Pastor Doug's Thought For Today 5/29

Good Morning,

It is another rainy morning in St. Joseph.  The rain gage didn't have a lot in it, but the rain continues.  Carol is about to finish the cabinet project, and it looks very nice. I hope to mow the lawn tonight, but we shall see if the weather cooperates. We watched Nonna on Netflix last night and I highly recommend it.  What a fun show and we got to watch it outside on the patio, always a bonus.  Have a great day and remember everybody needs a little Jesus.

Blessings, Doug

Today's Scripture

Psalm 103:17-18 (New International Version)
But from everlasting to everlasting the Lord’s love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children’s children— with those who keep his covenant and remember to obey his precepts.

Today's Thought

I had to come to understand what is being said in the word fear in scripture.  It is important to understand because it is foundational to how we understand God.  When we see the word, it does not mean afraid.  David is not talking about being afraid of God, but rather respecting, honoring, and giving one's whole self to God. God has only love for us.  We need the righteousness of God because we don't have it on our own. When we give our life to God we are covered by God's righteousness, and we are invited into everlasting love with Him.   Just a thought for today!
