Pastor Doug's Thought For Today 5/05

Good Morning,

Happy Cinco de Mayo!  I hope you had a great weekend!  Friday, I met with Dr. Mike Smith my ortho guy and set surgery for June 23rd.  I will have a partial knee replacement an outpatient surgery.   New G Sunday is June 29 giving me two weeks before returning to the pulpit. I appreciate your prayers.  Carol and I got caught up on garden and yard work.  We took a trip to Prairie Flowers Saturday and invested in the beauty around the house.  Carol does a great job with the flowerpots.  The irrigation is running, and we are ready for summer!  The Youth did a wonderful job leading worship.  This may be the best Youth Sunday I have ever experienced!  Great job!  The little Jesus series is a big hit.  I love the pictures and expect to see more this week.  Enjoy this beautiful day!

Blessings, Doug

PS:  Flowers arrive this Thursday, sale starts at 3:00 pm             We have lots of flowers still!

Today's Scripture

Philippians 4:6-7 (New International Version)
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Today's Thought

I love the instruction of this passage.  I need to repeat it once in a while, like every day.  Anxiety is a human condition that has no positive outcomes in our life.  It robs of us the moment, it steals the day.  Paul reminds us that God is there and our trust in Him will dissipate our anxiety. Prayer and petition, conversation with God will bring us peace.  I need that daily conversation and assurance of God, putting my trust in Him.  Maybe you need this as well.   Just a thought for today!
