Pastor Doug's Thought For Today 5/21

Good Morning,

St. Joseph schools have reached summer break.  I am sorry kids don't get summer the way it was when I was growing up when days were long and summer went on forever.  Summer is a very busy season today packed with activities and will be gone in the blink of an eye.  Carol and I were at Starlight for the opening night last night.  It was a bit cool, but Starlight is always a wonderful experience.  The cabinet painting continues or doesn't.  The paint color is a struggle; nothing has worked so far.  I am sure Carol will find the perfect color eventually, but she is a bit frustrated by the process.  I am so thankful for the rain and cooler temperatures, and I am looking forward to a sunny warm Memorial Day Weekend.  Enjoy this wonderful morning!   Have a great day!

Blessings, Doug

Today's Scripture

1 Corinthians 1:10 (New International Version)
I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought.

Today's Thought

Paul appeals to the church to have a common voice.  I love the church when we are a big tent and make room for everyone.  To be perfectly united in mind and thought refers to Jesus.  I am saddened with people try to reinvent Jesus to meet thier own agenda.  Jesus has clarity on what mattered and how to follow Him.  Love God with everything we have.  That means putting our agenda aside.  We are to love our neighbor as ourselves.  Without exception we are to love everyone.  Love unites and hate divides.  If you are saying or doing anything that causes division you have missed the mark.   Just a thought for today!
